Learn to shape a performance through editing, using the best takes from multiple options.
This Week
Professional editors often have multiple takes of every shot. Their job is to find the best performance across all takes and assemble it into a seamless whole. This requires a deep sensitivity to performance — the ability to feel when an actor is truly present in a moment versus when they are merely executing the lines.
Daily Practice
Take two or three takes of the same scene and practice intercutting them to find the best performance moments. Focus on the eyes, the pauses, and the micro-expressions. (45–60 min)
Weekly Challenge
Using a multi-take scene from EditStock, assemble the definitive version of the scene by selecting the best performance moments from each take.
